I was surprised that some of the immigrants that were sick had to be rejected because of their sickness.

I was surprised that how long it took for them to get from one place to a new one. Today we would take a plane or if it is close enough a car. It might take us a few hours or days but, back in theses times they took boats to America which could taken weeks or months.

I was surprised that people coming from different countries had to travel weeks or even months to get to America. Then they had to take a different boat to get to Ellis Island. Most people arrived with no possessions except the clothes on their backs, Some people didn't even know what a banana was or how to spell their last name coming from other countries.

What I thought was interesting is that you have to be interrogated to migrate to the place you want to go. It is important cause what if you were to carry EBOLA.

I was surprised that it takes so long to get to Ellis Island. It takes weeks or months just to get to Ellis Island. Then when at Ellis Island it takes a day or more to get in to the U.S. and the illness inspection. Today we could take a plane to Russia, or in there case, Russia to the U.S.

I was amazed on how long there trip was just to get to Ellis Island. It could take weeks even months! I was also amazed by 12 million immigrants! I would feel terrible if I would be sent back. They would send you back if you were poor or sick. I don't think 6 second health inspection are the best idea because the doctors could miss something if they were going so fast. This video taught me a lot.

I was surprised with how hard it is to stay on the boat to America without getting sick or a disease.

Immigrants must of gone thru a lot of hard work to get tickets to Ellis Island. It was cruel that just because they got sick on the ship they got sent back to where they came from when they did lots of work to go all the way across the ocean to America!

think about how ashamed they were when they had to go back because they had a disease when they were so exited. I learned a lot from that video.

I was surprised to learn that European centers processed 4,000 immigrants each day to let people travel to the United States. I was also surprised by the fact that 12 million immigrants came through Ellis Island.

One thing that surprised me from the video was that if you were sick on Ellis Island you were sent home. As bad as that seems imagine all the poor people on the boat to Ellis Island getting sick. Wouldn't that effect their health inspection? I bet people tried to stay healthy while on the ship to the United States.

One thing that surprised me was that the family members would be separated, such as the men would be separated from their wives and children. The fact that some people would have a very little amount of currency and some would have no currency at all was a bit shocking.

This was an amazing video! I learned the process that immigrants go through to come to America. One thing that surprised me was that if you were an immigrant on a ship to America, you wouldn't have much to eat. You would get a bowl of soup and a little piece of bread. Everyone on the ship must have been starving!

One thing that surprised me was if you got ill, you had to be sent back to your original home, so the sickness did not affect the people in the U.S. What also surprised me was that people were separated from their families because not every family member could afford to go to America.

What surprised me is that you can get separated from your family if someone in your family is sick. Another thing that surprised me was that about 12 million immigrants passed by Ellis Island
